The Zegama-Aizkorri VK, in its fourth year, was introduced as an addition to the highly popular Zegama-Aizkorri Mendi Maratoia event. The course is 5,200m long with 1,015m vertical climb up the Sierra Aizkorri, the highest mountain in the Basque Country which is renowned for hiking. Since 2006 the area was declared the Aizkorri-Aratz Natural Park.
The race is capaped at three hundred participants who delight in scrambling to the summit – in often muddy and wet conditions.
